Putting Match Play Bracket

Use the putting green by the pro shop, flip a coin to see
who starts and where she wants to start from and which
hole you have to aim for. The winner of that hole chooses
the next hole to aim for. Do this for 18 holes or until a
winner is declared before 18 holes are completed meaning
the first lady to win 10 holes or continue on past the 18
holes until there is a declared winner.
Prizes for this competition will be awarded at the Ladies
Closing.

THE STORY BEHIND
 THE PUTTING CHAMPIONSHIP TROPHY
 AND HOW IT CAME ABOUT

The trophy is named after Jean MacKenzie.  Jean and her family were very prominent in the forming of North Halton when it became a shareholding club in 1954.  Jean was a curler and golfer.  She sold a lot of shares to friends in the area to help get the golf course up and running.  She was the Ladies Club Champion in 1955 and served on the Board of Directors.

Ann Livingstone tells this story about Jean:

"I was standing on the 4th tee complaining that I always go in the front bunker.  Jean told me to just hit it up the Ladies Opening".  So now you know where this saying came from.  Ann said no one wanted to ride in a cart with her because "she went like a bat out of hell".

Katharine Latimer another member was a good friend of Jean (I don't have a lot of details about this part) and she inherited Jean's putter when she passed.  Katharine was a little perplexed as to what to do with the putter.  I had heard of another Club who had a Putting Championship so in 2009 we thought we could have Jean's putter mounted and make it another event that everyone could compete for.
