THE GTA SOLHEIM  (AKA CITY SOLHEIM) BEGAN IN 2016 FOR THE LOWEST 6 HANDICAPS FROM EACH CLUB.  

The 2022 Solheim Cup will take place on 

Monday July 18, 2022 at Granite Golf Club.  

 

Purpose:  To promote a friendly team competition within the private club sector that includes some of the best female golfers in the GTA using a modified Solheim Cup format.  And to enhance, rejuvenate and restore the Ladies sections of private golf clubs.

2022 Location

Ø  Granite Golf Club @ 2699 York Durham Line, Uxbridge, ON L9P 0J4

Player Eligibility

Ø  6 players per club – 48 players in total 

Ø  Only players with handicaps -0 or +0 -12 maximum are eligible to participate

Ø  Each club will submit their team players to the host club by Friday July 8, 2022 

Ø  Last minute substitutions are permitted, but must be submitted 24 hours prior to registration to the host club Head Professional

 

Format for 2022

Ø  Shotgun start at 8am off both Hole # 1 and Hole # 10 with a crossover

Ø  The front nine format is Alternate Shot, the back nine format is Best Ball

Ø  Teams are not permitted to change pairings for either format

Ø  Following the 18 holes, lunch will be available on the patio

Ø  Afternoon singles matches will be 9 holes and will begin as a Shotgun start at 1pm off the back nine holes

 

Match #1 ~ Alternate Shot – Starting Hole # 1

Ø  Shotgun start crossover

Ø  Teams play a 2-person, alternate shot match 

Ø  Low total gross score for 9 holes determines the winner of the match

Ø  The winning team from each match will receive 2 points. A tie equals 1 point per team and no points are awarded for a loss.

 

Match #2 ~ Better Ball – Starting Hole # 10

Ø  Shotgun start crossover

Ø  Teams play a 2-person better ball match 

Ø  Low total gross score for 9 holes determines the winner of the match

Ø  The winning team from each match will receive 2 points. A tie equals 1 point per team and no points are awarded for a loss.

 

Lunch ~ available on the patio (weather permitting)


Match #3 ~ Singles Match Play – Starting Hole #10

Ø  Shotgun start off the back nine holes

Ø  Each player will compete in an individual Match (Gross)

Ø  The winner of each match will receive 2 points. A tie equals 1 point and no points are awarded for a loss

Ø  The team with the most combined points from ALL matches will win the tournament

Ø  In the event of a tie, there will be a 1-Hole sudden death playoff, in a match play format. Any player can represent their team for 1 hole ONLY. Should a tie continue, another sudden death match will be played, on the same hole, but a different player must represent each Club. This format will continue until a winning team is declared.


Cost per player

Ø  $175 per player – payment must be made by club cheque in the full amount for all 6 participating players of each club

Ø  Green fee – complimentary

Ø  Power carts are available and should be paid in the pro shop prior to teeing off – by debit, visa or sign back  ( Approximately $21)

Ø  Entrance fee includes lunch, mandatory dinner,  golf, entrance gift, championship trophy to winning team, charity portion of entrance fee to Golf Ontario’s First Tee Ontario program

Ø  All beverages by credit/debit or chit 

 

Team Attire

Ø  Matching team attire is mandatory (top, bottoms, colour) not including shoes


Registration

Ø  All players must register 30 minutes prior to their tee time of the competition

Ø  All players are asked to be on their assigned first hole 10 minutes prior to their respected tee times


Host Club

Ø  Host club will organize draw, registration, scoring and entrance gift for all players (entrance gift must include ONLY the Solheim Cup logo)

Ø  Host club will display the Solheim Cup flag visible to all players for the event

Ø  Host club will provide the necessary amount of scorers in order to track the overall team scores and on course volunteers/spotters if needed


Trophy

Ø  Weston Head Professional, Colin Imrie has generously donated the trophy

Ø  It is up to the winning team to engrave the trophy with their club name and bring it to this year’s event (2022)  

Ø  Trophy presentation will be done at dinner following golf as well as the passing of the Solheim Cup flag (generously donated by North Halton) to the next host club

Weather

Ø  In the event of inclement weather during golf and the competition is cancelled, the club that has the lowest 3 scores after 9 holes will be declared the winner. In the event of a tie at that time, there will be no winning team declared

Ø  A rain date will be set if the course is unplayable before the start of the competition
