Alice Mary (Sophie) Henley

It is with much sadness and gratitude for a life well lived that we announce Sophie’s peaceful passing on July 7, 2022. Beloved mother of Philip, daughter-in-law Carol, and the late Meredith. "Granni" to grandsons Blair and Eric and granddaughter Ashley. Dear sister of the late Ruth Osborne, Sophie is fondly remembered by her nieces and nephews. Special thanks to the many supportive friends who held such an important place in Sophie’s life, and whose visits she appreciated deeply. We are extremely grateful for the truly exceptional care by the staff at the Georgetown Hospital. In lieu of flowers, and in recognition of her 35 years as a volunteer, donations to the Georgetown Hospital or a charity of your choice would be appreciated. A visitation may be held as circumstances allow and a private interment will be held at a later date

Sophie was a long time and very active member of North Halton.  She held various positions on the Women's Executive and always participated in our events as recently as a few years ago in the Soheim Cup.

Personal note:  One of my favourite Sophie stories:  About 10 years ago I asked Sophie how old she was.  Her reply:  "can you keep a secret?"  My reply:  "yes I can."  Sophie's reply:  "so can I."  😄

Years ago when Sophie was volunteering at the hospital manning the front desk I asked her "When do you stop colouring your hair"?  I thought that was pretty bold and Sophie would put me in my place, but her answer was "never".
