The card below was sent to me from Lori Madill. It is a card from 50 years ago when two good friends went out for a game of golf. They are Marilyn Worrall and Toots Burns.
In Lori's words:
"Every year when the D flight champ is awarded, I try
to share what a special fun loving person Toots was.
This card is such a wonderful memory piece between
the old logo, the course layout (with its various changes)
and what impressed me most was my Mom's 24 putts that day."
I (Gloria) had the pleasure of playing with these two ladies one time. I was young and naive and couldn't believe it when they were walking up the fairway singing back and forth to each other. You'll have to use your imagination for this part. One or the other would sing "what club do you think I should hit here" and the other would respond singing with her answer. Hilarious they were.
On Ladies Closing this year Marilyn will return to play without her good friend so maybe she and I will try to reenact that day so long ago with her good friend Toots.
Pictured below is Marilyn (on the right) when she was Captain of the Ladies Section. Lori didn't have the year this was taken. The article is reporting on our Closing Day. Mothers of current members - Donna Davey (Dot Hamilton) and Patty Hall (Phyllis Monckton) are listed as prize winners and Jennifer Reynolds (Maxine Linton) is the Press Reporter. The Gentleman in the middle donated a watch every year to the low net. I was fortunate to win it one time - see further down.

I still have the watch below. Mother of pearl face and diamond pieces.
Thanks for sending these articles Lori. If any of you have similar items please send me a copy. I love to see them and share with others.
